Sand Hollow State Park is a state park in Utah that features a 1,322-acre reservoir and an extensive off-highway vehicle recreation area on Sand Mountain. The park is near the town of Hurricane.

Sand Hollow is one of Utah's most gorgeous State Parks. It is located in southern Utah just east of St. George in Hurricane, Utah (pronounced Hurri-cun). The park opened to the public in 2003. Visitors have described it as "the epic boating and sand dune ATV experience", as well as “Amazing!” Sand Hollow is one of the most popular state parks in Utah. From epic golf among red rock outcroppings, to awesome boating, to ATVing on over 15,000 acres of sand dunes, you are sure to have a lot of fun. To locals, the area is known as Sand Hollow or simply “the sand dunes.” This is a great place to camp, picnic, boat, fish and ride ATVs.

Cliff Jumping

One of the most unique adventures people love about Sand Hollow are jumping off the cliffs into the warm water. Give it a try for an adventure you will never forget.

Sand Hollow Reservoir

The beautiful red rocks combine with warm blue sapphire water to make for the perfect boating and water sports experience in the southern Utah area. Boat rentals are available at the reservoir. Also perfect for water skiing, jet skiing, boating, tubing, swimming, and scuba diving. Other attractions near Sand Hollow are; Zion National Park, Snow Canyon State Park, Bryce Canyon, Quail Creek State Park, St. George, and Red Cliffs BLM Recreation area.

Beautiful Beaches at Sand Hollow

SAND MOUNTAIN SAND DUNES

Sand Hollow Dunes are one of the best places to ride in Utah. Sand Hollow State Park's Sand Dunes features some of the most beautiful riding terrain in the West. FISHING

BOATING

Boat and fish on Sand Hollow Reservoir, explore and ride the dunes of Sand Mountain on an off-highway vehicle, then RV or tent camp in the new campground.

SAND DUNES ATV & UTV OFF-ROADING 

ATV trails run over sand dune access to Sand Mountain in the park, and additional trails are located nearby. Epic sand dune ATV experience

RENT RZRS (AKA RAZORS) AND TRAVERSE THE RED ROCK CANYONS 

Explore the dunes on a RZR dune buggy and all-terrain vehicles that you can rent from several rental shops at Sand Hollow. 

CAMPING 

Two campgrounds are available to make reservations; Sandpit and Westside Campgrounds.
Sandpit Campground (ATV's allowed to drive in), offers 19 dry camping sites, 6 power sites, and 5 group sites. All sites have a fire ring and picnic table. Westside Campground has 50 sites with full hook-ups. Westside sites have covered picnic tables and fire rings. Both campgrounds have restrooms with showers which is included in your camping fee.

Additional primitive camping areas are available for tent camping and RVs — all must be self-contained from October- March.

Note about the reservoir: Take caution as invasive mussels have been found in the Sand Hollow Reservoir. If you plan to boat here, please take special precautions to decontaminate your boats/gear and watercraft before accessing the reservoir.

$5 day-use for Seniors 62+
$75 Annual Pass is available at the park

FACTS ABOUT SAND HOLLOW

Located approximately 15 miles east of St. George, and 7 miles east of the I-15 Hurricane Exit. To get here, exit I-15 at exit 16 (Highway 9). Then travel east for about 4 miles and turn right on Sand Hollow Road. Then travel south for approximately 3 miles and turn left at the park entrance.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park
